AKB-23 compatible with Brownells BRN180 upper receiver Gen 1-2.5 (upper NOT included unless purchased separately)

Our dedicated bufferless bullpup lower with removable endcaps allow seamless fit with uppers from multiple manufacturers (coming soon) to create a bullpup system with many possible configurations.

The AKB-23 receiver is machined from aircraft grade aluminum billet coated with MIL-A 8625 Type III hardcoat anodizing or Cerakote over anodizing.

If you purchased a "Gen2" recently it is probably a Gen2.5, see the picture for reference. 

 

Gen 1 uppers will require slight trimming to the handguard/rail retainer, contact us after purchasing for more information.

Certain configurations will create an SBR and require NFA registration.

BRN180 16” with buttpad extension meets 26” OAL 

BRN180 16” with permanently attached muzzle device that adds 2" past muzzle meets 26” OAL

BRN180 18.5” meets 26” OAL with no buttpad extension.

L85 style rifle handguard requires 7 Mlok slot rail (standard on 16" & 18" BRN180), Carbine length handguard for 6 slot rails coming soon.

 

Upper and non-listed accessories not included unless selected as an option.

General advisements:

*AR grips with extra tang may not fit.

*When attaching accessories to the handguard M-lok slots, avoid using screws with Loctite, as it can easily strip the polymer slots. Use screws without Loctite for best results.

*Handguard with 16" barrel my inhibit use of certain suppressor mounts.

    For what is it, this is a fantastic bit of kit. It's not a true SA80 but it's the most attainable replica you'll be able to find on the market. I've sent about 750 rounds through mine so far, and the only issue has been the cocking handle (causing stoppages if the dust cover is closed). This seems to have been fixed, so yeah. If you've ever wanted to experience the SA80, get this bad boy. It'll do you right!

    I have been looking for an L85 for sometime. This build is a dream come true. What a great product and what a great company to purchase from. Aly and Kaufman went above and beyond to answer any questions that I had. You will not regret buying anything on this site.     Closest thing us Yanks are going to get to receiving the Queen's service rifle. Beautifully put together with excellent detail to attention for a clone build. Remember, this isn't an exact copy of the L85, but who would want one of those when you can have the AKB23 that shoots better and is American made! I purchased the complete rifle and look forward to innovations to come to further this build!

    This is as close as we can get to the real British service rifle in the states, the design is ingenious to replicate the real thing as much as possible, utilizing Brn-180 uppers. The customer service is very responsive. Keep up the great work!

    Just got back from the range, absolute tack driver. 1.5 MOA on a cold barrel, 2 MOA on a hot one. 55 grain xtac pmc ammo used, and the optic was an elcan spectre. A touch gassy compared to other bullpups but shooting outdoors solves this. After 6 mags the heat shield wants to loosen and slide forward, not a huge deal if you store your allen keys in the grip. Works with every major brand AR mag, zero FTF or FTE. The entire kit is top tier build and materials. This is not on the same level as STINC kits, way higher quality. While I got this as a toy i think you could legit fight with this thing. I will be buying everything thats coming down the pipe from the company. Shoutout to Spencer for squeezing me into batch 2!

    Finally got to the range. Got it zeroed at 25 meters. Fired 30 rounds through it with no issues. I am quite impressed with this rifle. Usually during the break-in of a rifle there would be a failure to feed but the AKB-23 shot flawlessly. Looking forward to seeing the new accessories.

    Very cool Rifle fun to shoot. I would recommend the 18.5" BRN 80 upper. You get better L85 looks. I made the mistake of Buying the 16" upper before I realized the ramifications of Doing so. It does look great suppressed but the hooked Butt pad is very uncomfortable shooting. I hope they make a straight butt pad for the 16" setup. The parts fit together very tight and look great. I've put 250 rounds through mine so far with no issues.
